October Luncheon – Recruiting & Retaining Local Students
You are invited to the Women in Business luncheon on October 17th, 2019!
Melissa Skadson, Diversity & Compliance Manager, will discuss how businesses can recruit and retain college and high school students in order to increase their workforce. She will share best practices regarding internship programs, as well as other strategies to attract and engage the generation entering the workforce.
Highlights from the Melissa Skadson Luncheon
- Use Internship programs to engage and retain both High School and College students. Fastenal uses a rotational program for Freshman and Sophomore college students to get them experience in many different areas of the company
- Engagement is critical during not only once the person is hired but also during the hiring process
- Digital recruitment is key including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Must make the content relevant and engaging.
- Gen Z is 4-24 year olds and will make up a huge portion on workforce very soon. They are less trusting, want ongoing feedback, mentoring, coaching, looking for diversity and they want to collaborate with others. They are purpose driven and want to inspire action.
